My 2012 New Year's Eve and 2013 Wish For You

posted on: Tuesday, January 1, 2013

We didn't do anything for New Year's Eve night and its all good.  We were invited to Knott's New Year's Eve but I let the teens go.  I knew they would be safe and I knew they would have fun.  I loved going to Knott's Berry Farm as a teenager and now I'm passing the torch down to my kids.  They had a blast!  We were also invited to OC Fair's New Year's Eve Block Party but that didn't work out - flaky sitter and an 8 month old teether on a cold night.  Years ago, I would've flipped out because our plans fell through but now, I chalk it up to "what's meant to be will be".  Its easier to live life that way.

We didn't buy lucky food for the New Year.  I made cheeseburgers!  We didn't make resolutions.  We didn't tell each other "2013 will be our year".  Chris and I believe that if you want to change, you have the power to do it any day and at any time.  Same goes for eating healthy, going on a diet, falling in love - things don't change magically at the stroke of midnight.  I did have intentions of starting a new vision board before the year ended but I lagged.  My current vision board still holds true to what my goals are for 2013.

Chris and the littles fell asleep early.  I contemplated getting some cleaning in but decided to lounge around and hang out on Twitter.  I wasn't alone, a lot of us were tweeting the night away - wished the East Coast a HNY and then celebrated a West Coast New Year.  I fell asleep on the couch watching an episode of Kitchen Nightmares.  Got to sleep in, did a lil' cleaning with Chris, made a super fat breakfast and watched Diary of a Mad Black Woman (for the first time) on BET.  It was very nice to just lounge around, not worry about having to go anywhere, meet a deadline... I played with the littles, cuddled and snuggled with them all day.

We can't base a whole year on the way the year ends and the new one begins.  Stop doing that.  I do have a wish for you, use it anytime, keep it as a lingering reminder.  XOXO
Happy New Year!!!
